The 5th annual Malibu Canyon Dirt Dash returns Saturday,September 25, 2010 with a new twist - The 5K MUD RUN - complete with awesome obstacles and a mud-tastic mud pit at the end!

Join us for a scenic run (5k or 10k) on the trails around Malibu Creek State Park, and the new 5k Mud Run (with rope climbs, swings, bridge crossings and mud pit). This event is for everyone: whether you are a walker, runner, adventurer, or somewhere in between. This event will provide a fun challenge and provide an opportunity to show your support for The Salvation Army Summer Camp program! Event is limited to 1000 participants, so enter early!

Each year, The Salvation Army hosts nearly three thousand young people, most of whom hail from the meaner streets of the inner-city, to spend a week in the woods, breathing fresh air and having a wilderness and camp experience that for many, represents their only respite from the harsher realities of their lives.

To accomplish this, The Salvation Army and its many corporate partners, provide the means by which these children can attend camp. All proceeds from the 5K/10K Trail Run and MUD RUN go toward giving these deserving youth and teens a wonderful camp experience.

Volunteer Opportunities are available for this event! 

Who: Volunteers must be 14 years and over OR accompanied by an adult

When: Saturday, September 23, 2010

Time: 5:30 A.M. -1:00 P.M. (2 shifts available)

What: Duties range from course marking, race day setup and registration, food and aid stations, course monitoring, finish line timing, and many more exciting duties!

All volunteers receive a free t-shirt, snack, and a complimentary entry to a remaining XTERRA Trail race event or another participating Generic Events race.
